This bread is a real winner in our house as it doesn't contain any perservatives which I am allergic to. The texture is great, and it's a good bread to toast.

Felt a bit heavy for me

Hadn't tried Sourdough before this and loved it. We make toasted sandwiches in the sandwich press with left over roast chicken, cranberry jelly, camembert & baby spinach.

This sour dough is great toasted with Sunday brunch or try dipping it in garlic infused olive oil and popping it under the grill.... yummo ! It has a denser texture and is perfect as an accompaniment to soup and makes a super toasted sammie. Highly recommend !

Better toasted. We were not fans of this sourdough bread but as we make a lot of our own bread its probably unfair to compare a bulk produced product .

First time I tried sourdough bread at home instead of part of a cafe meal so wasn't sure what to expect but was nicely surprised with how soft it was & mild flavour. Just as good fresh or toasted, sometimes all I added was butter :)

Just YUMMY perfect for toasted sandwiches, but way better fresh!

Unfortunately the bread arrived a little squished which made it a little dense but the kids still loved it.

Loved this bread. Unbelievably yummy with Lewis Road Creamery butter and marmite. Now my favourite go to.

I liked the bread, but its not necessarily my favorite. I think it would be really good for toasted sandwiches. If it was on special and suited my need id buy it. Just a side note it may not have arrived 100% fresh which may have altered my opinion on it.

This bread has an unusual taste...and as a family we have decided it is nicer toasted...especially great to have with soup on a cool evening..smothered with butter while warm...mmmmm. Will definitely purchase again if stocked in our local supermarket 😊

I wasn’t a fan of this bread but my son loved it, he ate the whole loaf in two days, he said he wants to buy it again.

The loaf of bread wasn't terribly fresh by the time I received it, so I placed it in freezer and used it as I needed it. It still toasted up very nice, and I can say it makes very nice french toast. I'm going to buy a fresh loaf at my local supermarket to enjoy with some peanut butter or marmite!!

I enjoyed this with marmite and peanut butter. I was looking forward to a sandwich but sadly I think my loaf might have been a couple of days in transit as it was a bit dry.

Tasty white alternative from the Freyas family. We had it toasted with jam and found it very delicious.

Freyas Toast Bread Sourdough make THE best toasted sandwiches, crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. I really enjoyed it.

I'm normally a huge Freyas fan, so was excited to try this. However, I found the sourdough not as flavoursome as other breads in their range. I also struggled with the thickness of the bread - while it was perfect for a hearty piece of toast, I found it a bit thick for sandwiches. This particular bread just wasn't for me!

I usually make my own sourdough as I find NZ sourdough bread too light.As it's Winter making sourdough on cold days takes forever. I was pleasantly surprised by this bread,good depth of flavour,nice crumb,well sliced and filling.It made excellent toasties.I rolled it thin and put olive oil on it with cumin and cajun spices popped it in the oven to crisp up and it made excellent crispy bread to go with pesto's and hot cheese dip. Will buy this bread throughout winter and keep one on hand for when I can't be bothered making sourdough.

Great toasted, perfect way to jazz up the sunday brekkie. Great with a side of bacon and eggs.

I found the sour dough flavour a bit on the mild side for me and also a bit dry when eating it fresh, made good toast tho. loved the semolina on outside of loaf

Since trying this bread we have been back to the super market a number of times and purchased it. Wow, talk about moreish. I enjoy it most warmed up with butter and Vegemite on it. Super delicious, beautiful and moist. Absolutely love it :)

I've tried making this bread but this had it bang on and is way easier to buy it. It is a bread that has a taste that i love as i find other breads basically have no taste. I believe it is also a much healthier version of bread too. The only thing that didn"t get the five star was it was only in toast thickness and would be great to have sandwich thinner size.

First time trying sourdough bread. Wasn't my preferred taste but it was a nice bread, soft and filling. Miss 4 wasn't a huge fan as it "smelt like weird things".

Like all Freyas bread you know your getting a more heartier bread than most which is exactly what this was however I felt that I would of liked to of tasted a more stronger Sourdough taste as this is very light. I also found it to be quite soft almost like a toast white bread rather than a dense sourdough however I would buy again great for soups and kids whom find sourdough otherwise too tough to chew but this can satisfy both child and adult ?

For a Sourdough it just didn't quite have enough flavour. I wasn't crazy about the texture of it for a sandwich either, was almost a little dry. Was nice enough made into toasted sandwiches though.

I make my own sourdough but was quite impressed with this for a commercial loaf. Lacks the crisp crust and not as much crumb as I would like, but tasty with a good mouth feel.

Freyas is a fav brand, usually prefer darker bread. This bread was better toasted, was nice as a dip for soup as well.

Freyas happens to be in my opinion a great bread range. Has so many different and this was the first time trying sought dough from them. Loved it as did the whole family

A lovely bread like many of Freyas breads. This one lovely for soaking up soup and simply eating with just a spread of butter.

hi tried this both as toast and as a salad sandwhich. i enjoyed it more as toast, making sure it was hot when i put butter and vegimite on it and ate it. as a sandwhich not so much.

Love this bread. It arrived the day of the best before so I wasn't keen to have it fresh. We had it with seafood chowder, Cheese and bacon and salmon and pesto. We have been out brought more already!!!

Finally a decent sour dough bread :) Went down a treat with the Family with homemade vege soup and the next night with seafood chowder. Weighty bread per slice, delicious fresh & toasted with barely a hint of sour. Well done sirs!

Nice thick slices which are both soft and chewy. Has a nice aroma after a few seconds in the microwave. I liked it "as is" and toasted. It wont be a regular purchase as my staple bread is Freya's Roggenbrot.

I don't eat a lot of bread as it bloats me, but this sourdough doesn't have that effect on me. Not a fan of it fresh but toasted, my youngest son and I love it!

Great for toast, not so keen for sandwiches. Dont think sourdough bread is a good keeper.

Reminded me of Dutch white bread, rather then sourdough, made cheese toasties, regular BLT sandwich and the good old fashioned toast with butter and jam. All three were super delicious. Will definitely buy again.

Not sourdough in any shape or form. Has a weird flavour to it and way too soft and fluffy. I'll be sticking to home made and bakery sourdough thanks.

Made a really nice cheese toastie, although if it didn’t have cheese on it, the taste was a bit bland.

this was very nice..the men liked it whereas they wouldn't normally. I used it toasted but didn't like it as a sandwich as it was too dense and thick. In fact i just dont make sandwiches with slabs of bread..give us back the old days of normal sliced bread..since when did slabs become the norm? Hold their shape better in the loaf? So off putting.. sometimes is hard to taste the filling for all the bread! There are nice breads available but thickness puts us off buying it. This bread was not soft and doughy so when chewed did not form a soft gluey ball that's hard to swallow

has quite a strong sourdough tang - a bit much for me as it overpowered other toppings. Not bad with soup though.

Amazing toasted with eggs. Makes homemade poached or scrabbled eggs as good as at a cafe :). Not to good as sandwich bread but delicious as toast.

Great overall! I used it with salami and it was perfect. I love thicker slices and denser bread so this was a real treat for me. I also used FReyas Sourdough Bread when I made cheese toast and it was nice and chewy even toasted. The only thing is it didn't stay fresh for as long as I would have liked but it was almost gone anyway so worked out well.

My 5 year old daughter absolutely loved the german style sourdough bread, It had a really nice flavour and texture for a white bread. I did find the toast style slices a bit thick for myself

Not a traditional sourdough taste, but a nice toast bread all the same.

I first tried Freyas German Sour Dough Bread at my cousin's a few months ago + became an instant convert. It's density makes it ideal for using in toasted sammies, croutons, bread based savories etc, rarebit etc . Try drizzling garlic infused olive oil over it then grilling..... use for accompanying + dunking in tomato soup on a cold winter day - scrumptious !

I normally like sourdough bread but this one had a tang to it that did not appeal to me. It wasn't a bread that I could enjoy as bread, was ok toasted though. For me, the best flavour was in a steak sandwich with other flavours that could mask the tang.

Really enjoyed this bread. We had it as a sandwich and also toasted. I preferred it toasted as that seemed to emphasize the sourdough taste. The fresh slices are firm enough that they dont tear or flatten when buttering.

Freyas German toast bread sour dough This is a beautiful soft bread made in the traditional style of bread making. Some of my favorite fillings are fresh green garden salads ,loads of sun-dried tomatoes, smoked salmon , brie cheese and of course my favorite home made mayo with a hint of whole grain mustard. DELISH😉

not had Sourdough bread before. its nice, a bit of a tangy, nice flavour. probably not something i would buy as i prefer grainy bread. but as an alternative i would consider it. it does make a nice sandwich however. lunch at work was very tasty.

I think I am officially converted, this bread is super soft and flavorsome. I had it with some ham and super greens lettuce covered with a little mayo. Delicious, and much more filling then cheaper brands.

The Freya's Sourdough bread it so very tasty, I had it toasted with Advocado, Tomato and a garnish of Spring Onion...Delish....

I was hesitant when I saw the thickness of the slices but it was so light and had the distinct sourdough taste. Was great with a thick slice of ham and homemade nectarine relish.

Slight sour taste lovely eaten with just butter and even better with marmite. Moorish eaten straight from the packet or toasted with your favourite spreads on.
