Essano Scalp Refresh Shampoo

Seemed to do the job! Didn't irritate my husband's very sensitive scalp, and seems to work as well as his usual anti-dandruff shampoo. My teenaged son thought it smelled and worked ok, too. Neither my daughter nor I liked the smell, however - smells too much like cleaning products!! Not a fan of the pump lid, however the clip would be good if you had to take it travelling (or had an inquisitive toddler in the house).

This has helped in conjuction with conditioner to help my dry scalp, great pump bottle, but I assume it's going to be a pain to get the last of the product used up. I do tend to wash twice as I don't get a great lather the first time

My hair is very picky as the scalp can be dry and flaky yet the hair can be oily and heavy. I have only ever found 2 shampoo and conditioner brand that works perfectly on my hair, unfortunately, those are NOT it. I haven't had flaky scalp for a couple of years but switching to this shampoo instantly brought the flake back. Though not as bad as the majority of other shampoos on the market, only some flake at the front, but still not living up to my standard. It's called anti-dandruff, one would have hoped for no dandruff. The conditioners will have its separate review but I would like to briefly mention here that it makes my hair greasy much faster than my current hair routine. I also don't like the smell. For a product with natural ingredients, it smells a lot like many of the chemical filled shampoos on the shelf. I'm so used to the gentle smell of my shampoo bar, I don't like it. But it fades fast so I don't mind it too much. The only pros would be that my hair looks great right after drying up, which doesn't usually happen.

I loved this product & the conditioner the most out of all the products in the essano box. After only 3 washes, the results were clear that the product does what it says it does. My scalp felt refreshed & my dandruff prone hair soft & silky. I had some scale but after just 5 uses, my dandruff has nearly gone. Very happy.

Cleaned much better

My husband suffers from dandruff, so this was a great product to try. We found that after a few washes, we noticed a significant difference, as his hair was not really flaky anymore. We loved how the product is made in New Zealand and the bottle is made from recyclable plastic - awesome! The only difference we found with this product was that it didn't lather up that much, like other shampoo. So we used more product to try and create a lather (as we weren't sure if it was cleaning our hair or not). It may be because we have thicker hair? But if you are to use this product, give it a pre-wash with a small amount first, rinse out and then give it another deep clean wash. This seems to create a bit of a lather.

I have really enjoyed using this product. It lathers well in my hair and the pump bottle means that I know that when my kids use it, I can get them to control the quantity that they apply. The smell is refreshing rather than overpowering, and is more "clean" than "perfumed". I am definitely going to buy this product again.

I used in my daughter's hair and it definetly made a differance with the dandruff she is prone too. She had a lot less after using on two occasions. She had longer thick hair so did take quite a bit to get all the hair lathered up. Smelt nice, alot better than other anti-dandruff shampoo. Followed up with the conditioner and her hair felt soft and clean. I don't like the pump bottle as it does make it hard to get all the product out to minimize wastage.

Worked well - cleaned my hair well even though I don't wash my hair daily.

Really liked this product and will continue to purchase it. I found it helped alot with my sensitive scalp and dandruff. Gentle but effective, and smells clean and fresh.

I suffer with an itchy scalp often and after using this just once it felt so much better. I have long hair and it did take alot of product to ensure i had full coverage so wouldnt use for every wash but i certainly noticed a change in my hair and scalp after using this.

The Essano Scalp Refresh Shampoo works wonders alongside the Conditioner. I'm a daily hair washer which I know is bad in itself so I really need a shampoo that doesn't dry out my hair and this one does the trick! Not a huge fan of the pump bottle as it will be hard to use up all of the product at the very bottom but we'll face that when I run out.

This was perfect for my daughter as she gets dandruff. It has only been a couple weeks but it seems to have helped a little bit. I have noticed it makes her hair alot greasy quicker but that could be her not rinsing properly but will see in a week or so how it goes. Great smell and lathers well.

Really good quality supermarket shampoo. It left my husbands hair in much better condition than his previous shampoo. It isn't quite as good as salon brands, but awesome value for money and much better than many other supermarket shampoo's I have tried in the past. Didn't love the pump mechanism though - I preferred the conditioner bottle style.

My husband and teenage boys used this & found it really good. The plastic clip was actually brilliant, as we went away & this stopped any leaks while in their bag. This is a product they are keen to purchase again

Great but needed to be used daily, needed to pump a lot to get any sort of hair coverage and lather. Smelled awesome and was used by my husband also.

A few of us in my household have a need for anti-dandruff shampoo, so were keen to try it. The smell is a lot nicer than other types of anti-dandruff shampoos that we've used (a lot less of an obvious chemical smell). Didn't have the lather you expect from a shampoo though, so it felt like you needed quite a lot more product to get through to your scalp. Hair felt "squeaky clean" which probably isn't a great feeling, as it wasn't particularly moisturising, however we followed with the Essano Scalp refresh conditioner which bought things back a bit.

I feel as though I can only comment on the Shampoo whilst apply it. As I haven’t used it in its own but rather as a duo alongside the Conditioner . On first inspection I love that the Shampoo is a pump bottle whereas the Conditioner is a click top. It allows for easier recognition of which is which. The Shampoo has a manly smell to it - I wouldn’t recognise it as mint. The Shampoo doesn’t lather up like most so I had to use two pumps to adequately coat my hair. My hair is dandruff prone but also oily - being Oily I had to shampoo twice. Using this duo I found the dandruff to be almost eliminated and my hair feeling less oily - so that’s a win!

Great New Zealand made product with a lot of natural ingredients! For starters the packaging is just gorgeous. Looking at the retail price it pays to shop around... my local supermaket is $6 cheaper than a competitor. The smell of the product was pretty good compared to other dandruff products - thats a big bonus! As someone who suffered from bad dandruff and was constantly scratching I highly recommend this product. I have had dramatic results when using this with the matching conditioner. My shoulders no longer look like I have been out in the snow and I have completely stopped scratching! I followed the directions on bottle and found you really need very wet hair to get the product to lather - initially I used a few pumps but i have very thick heavy hair. I left it 2mins, rinsed and repeated. It does leave your hair feeling very dry but when followed up with the conditioner as directed and dried with a hair dryer my hair feels like ive stepped out of the hairdresser.

I gifted this to my daughter for her dandruff control as she needs it, and it definitely worked! Dandruff was reduced and barely noticeable after just one use. Going forward she will probably alternate between using this and a normal shampoo as it works really well so I don't feel like you would need to use it more than once during a week. Had a different feel from normal shampoo as it didn't froth up as much, which is fine.

In using this shampoo, I find it not foaming much which makes me pump some more shampoo though it smells nice. I also feel it was not harsh on my hair and leaves it healthy. I notice that my dandruff also lessen and it does not itch that much.

We always have anti dandruff shampoo in the house and have learnt from experience that some are better than others. The Essano scalp refresh shampoo did no reduce itch or dandruff for any of my family. The smell is pleasant and the pump bottle is good for portion control with kids but hard to get the bottom of the bottle out.

I really likes the smell of this, i have a family of 6. Due to the size of our family, this product doesn't go very far and you need to use a little more than most Shampoos. My kids asked why it doesn't lather like most shampoos but each family member said it made their hair feel amazing. After a week we noticed a difference in the dryness of our hair. My daughter has stopped scratching her head as much as she did and shes loving this product. Even more so followed by the counter partner conditioner.

My daughter has very thick long hair and is prone to dandruff, this worked really well on her scalp and has definitely reduced her dandruff, the only problem is we needed to use a lot of the shampoo to penetrate through her thick hair. The shampoo doesn't produce a luxurious lather like others so it doesn't go far if you have abundant hair.

A little more pricey than the conditioner counterpart, but overall was very happy with this product. The pump doesn't dispense much at each pump, so felt like was using a lot.

I was not too happy with this shampoo as it was extra drying on my hair and it took a few washes the following week with my normal shampoo and conditioner to bring it back to good. It did definitely help with my dry itchy scalp but at the expense of my hair so unfortunalty it won't be something I will purchase again

This isn’t a shampoo I would seek out as the bottle describes it as more of a daily shampoo and mainly aimed at reducing dandruff. Neither of which I aim to do myself. However, it was a nice consistency and perfectly fine to use.

Wish I could give this product more than 3 stars. Its quite expensive for a shampoo that I needed to use alot of. Usually I only need a table spoon of product to lather in my hair, this product I needed over 15 pumps to cover my scalp and onto my ends. It didn't give me the feeling of clean unfortunately.
